'04 Chardonnay: Richness from California

Article Abstract:

The blind tasting results of more than 300 California Chardonnays from 2001 to 2004 vintages are presented. Sonoma Country has emerged as the biggest and best Chardonnay region in the state and 2004 vintage has proved a banner year for many wine producers.

Winemaker Alvaro Palacios has worked hard to make wines from the Spanish region Rioja world famous. Palacios studied how the French vineyards produced wines and took the lessons home. His wines from 1993, 1994, and in particular 1995, stand out.
