Research have indicated that fetuses can sense things which are happening in the outside world. Unborn babies have their first lessons about their native language while still in the womb, recognize their mothers through their voices and even dream in utero.

Why babies do what they do

Article Abstract:

Infants' adorable, yet strange and sometimes alarming, behavior is explained. Infants' startled look is a normal response called Moro reflex that shows that the babies are experiencing something new. Crawling backward is also a normal behavior among babies.
