The way we worry

A March, 1992, survey, 'Could You Be a Better Parent?' recorded 'Parenting' readers worries and concerns. Alcohol and drug use worried the most parents, followed by start of school, while the child's health and safety was chosen most often as a parent's single worst worry.

A mother has raised her 13-year-old son to be independent, but each time she sees him growing further away from her, she finds it painful. His month-long trip to visit relatives 350 miles away is another experience in separation anxiety for her.
