Natural resources and the Marshallian effects of input-reducing technological changes

Article Abstract:

The reducing effect of input-reducing technological changes on the demand of sawlogs in the Pacific Northwest was studied using Marshallian input demands and Hicksian input demand. Statistical analysis indicates no reduction of demand for sawlogs, thus input reducing technological change may not be effective. In fact, there was an increase in demand for sawlogs. Marshallian demand for laborand sawmills decreased incrementally.

ENTICE: endogenous technological change in the DICE model of global warming

Article Abstract:

The DICE model of climate change is modified to allow for induced innovation in the energy sector. The sensitivity analysis is used to contrast the results of ENTICE and other climate change models with endogenous technological change.

Technological change and depletion in offshore oil and gas

Article Abstract:

The hypothesis that technological change has offset depletion for offshore oil and gas production in the Gulf of Mexico is tested using a unique micro-level data set from 1947-1998 is discussed.
