A dual approach to modeling corner solutions in recreation demand

Article Abstract:

Lee and Pitt's dual approach to the problem of corner solutions was applied empirically in recreation demand. This approach is attractive because its treatment of of corner solutions supports behavior therapy, thus offering a firm theoretical foundation for the consequent welfare measures. Using the dual approach, fishing demand in the Wisconsin Great Lakes region and the welfare measures linked to changes in the characteristics of the Great lakes were estimated. The findings are discussed.

Evaluating the performance of benefit transfer: an empirical inquiry

Article Abstract:

A random utility recreational choice model has been used to assess the performance of benefit transfers. The use of benefit function transfer estimates can result in information that is not useful in the development of policy. Further, it was established that direct benefit transfers are preferable over site transfer benefits because the former offers a lower error percentage and wider ranging applications.

Estimating preferences for outdoor recreation: a comparison of continuous and count data demand system frameworks

Article Abstract:

The current domination of the seasonal, multi-site recreation demand literature is posed as a problem. A continuous and count data demand system models are a good alternative for the above mentioned problem.
