Threats to U.S. public lands from cumulative hydrologic alterations outside of their boundaries

Article Abstract:

An analysis is presented on water resource development and hydraulic engineering on adjacent public lands, focusing on the conflicts that arise between private water users and government agencies. Proposed resolutions include interdisciplinary research to develop prediction methodologies for the effects of hydrologic alterations, and increasing the number of monitoring programs and stream gaging stations inside and around public lands.
