Plant abundance: the measurement and relationship with seed size

Article Abstract:

Research finding positive relationships between plant distribution and abundance have depended on density or population size to measure abundance. When cover or biomass determines abundance, reported patterns should be significantly different, and this would also be true when examining the relationship between abundance and seed size.

Within-and between-species patterns of allocation to pulp and seed in vertebrate dispersed plants

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted to examine size dependent dry mass allocation pattern to pulp and seed mass both among and within 20 fruit-producing plant species of tropical rainforest in northeast Queensland Australia. The result reveals that relationships within individual species do not reflect the interspecific relationships.

Seed size and plant strategy across the whole life cycle

Article Abstract:

A study to quantify the relationships between seed mass and survival through each of the hazards plants face between seed production and maturity is presented. The seed size evolves as part of a spectrum of life history traits, including plant size, plant longevity, juvenile survival rate and time to reproduction.
