An overview is provided on green products and technology used to build the Olympic facilities for Sydney, Australia's presentation of the 2000 Olympic Games. They included solar energy and waste-water treatment systems, non-toxic and recycled construction materials, and agreements from event sponsors to initiate environmentally safe production practices, such as Coca-Cola's elimination of ozone-depleting refrigerants.

A description is presented on the efforts of Greenpeace to prohibit whaling by Japanese fleets in the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary. Tactics include interfering with bringing catches on deck, as the whalers' harpoons are still attached to the whale and are not able to fire again until the catch is released.
