Article Abstract:
An experiment was performed at 10 different sites in which it was tested whether selection by wild birds is anti-apostatic when presented with high density populations of shells of the polymorphic land snail, Cepaea hortensis, stuffed with pastry. The selection was measured using an analyses based on generalized linear mixed models (GLMMs) that has broad applicability to all resource selection studies where external variance is a problem.

Article Abstract:
A state-dependent optimal annual routine model that incorporates explicit density dependence in the food supply is developed to study the optimal moult strategies. The results suggest that the sequence of moult might be an adaptive response to the problem of optimal timing of moult of differing feathers within the same feather tract.

Article Abstract:
The study shows that if thermoregulatory substitution occurs then there is critical level of energy reserves above which an active bird is thermoneutral. The model predicts that at lower temperatures body mass would be higher when thermoregulatory substitution occurs.
