Anthropogenic effects on the biodiversity of riparian wetlands of a northern temperate landscape

Article Abstract:

Ecological research shows that bird studies provide the most useful information for landscape studies in the region of small stream riparian wetlands. Fish community figures can also be used in wider geological landscape surveys. Other organism groups such as amphibians provide less information in riparian wetlands studies. Data from fifteen riparian wetland sites is illustrated.

Testing hypotheses about management to enhance habitat for feeding birds in a freshwater wetland

Article Abstract:

Research is presented involving the manipulation of water levels to improve Japanese Snipe feeding bird habitat in an Australian freshwater wetland, along with a discussion of testing and analysis methodology. The studies demonstrated the importance of hierarchical temporal scale sampling and appropriate spatial replication when assessing species abundancies.

A systems approach to the evaluation of natural resource management initiatives

Article Abstract:

A model is presented for the management of natural resources in Australia. The model, among other components, consists of problem characterization, policy intent and formulation, program logic, diverse disciplinary perspective integration, and on-ground implementation.
