Article Abstract:
A model for designing marine protected areas that protect important components of the ecosystem while minimizing economic impacts in local communities is used. It evaluated and compared potential marine protected area sites and further illustrated three policy scenarios, the scenarios demonstrated how the model could be used to achieve different goals for managing resources in the region.

Article Abstract:
The potential links between the Korup National Park's human community of 4200 inhabitant's livelihood and the long-term management and survival of the Park as the important biodiversity conservation zone are evaluated. The results indicate that the successful management of a Park like Korup might depend on the involvement of the local communities.
