Amazonia rainforest fires: a lacustrine record of 7000 years

Article Abstract:

Research has shown that fires have been a recurring event in the history of Amazonian rainforests. Although human activity is primarily responsible for present-day deforestation through fires, previous fire events over the last 7000 years have occurred due to short dry climatic episodes that varied in frequency. These episodes are expected to impact future deforestation in addition to human activity.
