Article Abstract:
A knowledge-based system for addressing environmentsal concerns is presented. Public participation is taken into account in conferring significance on the environmental components on engineering projects. The aggregation of expert and public scrutiny results in identification of the environmental issues at stake and so the need arises of the participation of at least one interested group. A specific issue has to be recognized for the interested parties to discuss.

Article Abstract:
Twenty two parks in the midwestern United States were studied to assess their vulnerability to future air pollution hazards. The life cycle, relative abundance and overall vulnerability to pollution of biota were taken as variables and assigned relative weightage in the ratio of 3-2-1. Scotts Bluff National Monument in western Nebraska was found to be the most vulnerable, while Isle Royale National Park in Lake Superior was the least.

Article Abstract:
The author suggests that using multiattribute utility theory can resolve interpretation and consistency problems within the index of watershed indicators, an index created by the US Environmental Protection Agency to assess water quality.
