Article Abstract:
The interactions between resources and abiotic conditions control local diversity and productivity and the sites differing in disturbance intensity were studied in saltwater lagoon. At the most disturbed site, environmental factors associated with distance from the shoreline indirectly controlled species density through their effects on plant cover, while at the less disturbed site environmental factors influence both plant cover and species density.

Article Abstract:
Several data-sets from the survey of two terrestrial plant communities are collected to analyze the effects of productivity on various parameters of the species-log area curves (SACs) in the herbaceous vegetation among the plants. The results show that the parameter of a SAC cannot be frequently used to study the effects of ecological factors, as the properties largely depend on the type of habitat or plant community and its particular features.

Article Abstract:
Research on Californian grassland communities indicates the presence of a selection effect among species that are significantly productive in polycultures, rather than those in monocultures. A model is described reflecting the role of environmental variation in determining productivity/biodiversity relationships.
