Article Abstract:
It is argued that planning and development in national parks can be controlled by a recreational carrying capacity framework, so as to provide for the economic needs of the resident communities. The study is based on assessments of the current perceptual carrying capacity across the Vikos-Aoos National Park. The research shows that carrying capacity is still an elusive concept and that a fixed deterministic approach is unsuitable for managing a National Park.
