The article discussed how Motorola's quality evolved. The impressive improvement is attributed to the company's focus on its people, leadership management, customers and market, knowledge and analysis management, information flow, and strategic planning for higher product quality. With the focus on the aspects mentioned, Motorola was able to reduce process defect rate to the Six Sigma level, which is equivalent to 3.4 defects per million.
