Article Abstract:
Chemical process industries need to consider their manpower requirements for skilled operators. These operators should no longer be viewed as expendable and replaceable because of the projected difficulty of looking for replacements of skilled workers who belong to the baby boomer generation and will soon retire. Moreover, operators have been transformed to full-fledged paraprofessionals because of the elimination of several management staff.

Article Abstract:
It is possible to estimate the required reaction time of a liquid product formed from two liquid precursors in a batch reactor despite the absence of a batch-reactor simulation program. A number of mathematical techniques exist that are capable of determining the length of the reaction time, the optimum feedrate of Reactant B and the heat loads of the exothermic or endothermic reaction from its inception to its conclusion.
