Lasers speed up board production
Article Abstract:
Conductor patterns can be written directly onto photoresist using laser beams. The technique, called laser direct imaging (LDI), reduces production time of circuit-board prototypes by half. So far, production of printed circuits using LDI amounts to less than 1 percent of the worldwide volume, but the percent is expected to increase. LDI systems vendors include: Etec Systems; Orbotech; Creo; and Pentax.
