Article Abstract:
The need to comply with the new millenium ISO standards has prompted US manufacturing companies to equip their gages with electronic-data-transfer capabilities. Gage-management software programs do not only significantly reduce the load of paper works, but eliminate human errors associated with measurements, as well. These programs further allow users to store measurement information to a diskette or transfer it to a database system. Information gathered from these programs may also be transmitted as e-mail attachment, thereby enhancing the overall calibration process.

Agema Infrared Systems' Agema 900 infrared imaging system provided the solution to Analog Devices Inc's problem of conducting measurements on a DC-to-DC power converter. Simulation and measurement of the company's DC-to-DC power converter was done by positioning the Agema 900 on a home-made wind tunnel of 26-gauge metal duct and polypropylne test chamber. Imaging was done through a window in the chamber, providing measurements of the converter within fifteen minutes only.
