Article Abstract:
The educational system for engineering must be designed to make it more responsive to the increasing competitiveness in the global market and the entry of automation and computer-aided manufacturing. Engineers must be trained to handle almost all of the financial, production and marketing aspects of the company. However, the institutionalization of engineering programs has severely restricted reform efforts. Tips on how to implement changes in the educational system are provided.

Engineering fields of study are rapidly evolving due to continuous technological advancements. The engineering education system will thus have to follow suit and be modified to meet the new industry needs spurred by technological progress. Some specific recommendations are to reward professors involved in industry, replicate business whenever possible, incorporate technology in the curriculum and develop technical information presentation courses for engineers.
