Article Abstract:

The history of the grade II listed theater, Hackney Empire is peppered with changes at various stages mirroring the changes in social trends. The update is the result of a long drawn 15 million pound sterling fund-raising campaign but the project was no easy task, with economic and social problems playing their part, and the building itself adding to the dilemmas.
