Article Abstract:
Standby power systems, generators and uninterruptible power supply (ups), have to interface with other electrical systems in the premises. The nature of the interface with supply, distribution, control and monitoring and loads as well as the building itself all determine the nature of the standby system. Battery backed, static ups may create large harnomics and will need to be filtered. Voltage ranges must also be controlled. Generator supplied ups may also be subject to unexpected problems. The design and construction of the ups and its interfaces is, therefore important as is the provision of control and monitoroing systems.
