Choke plus transformer saves power

Article Abstract:

A low cost device that reduces electricity bills and improves power quality, by introducing reactance into the supply line, therefore reducing supply voltage to electrical systems, is developed. The unit takes the form of a three-phase mains choke and also includes additional secondary windings to provide a more balanced output voltage and trap harmonics.

Closed loop control cuts energy costs for wheel manufacturer

Article Abstract:

Steel wheel maker Magnetto-Topy is achieving vast energy savings by applying closed loop control to an existing variable speed drive installation. A proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller is inserted within the control loop so that the loop can be tuned to ensure stable and accurate control with good response times.
