An organizational approach to product quality via statistical experiment design

Article Abstract:

Statistical strategies have proven to be effective tools in the optimization of product and process performance and productivity. However, their adoption has been hindered by numerous difficulties involved in certain experiment design techniques. A tested five-point method of implementing experiment design-based quality programs was developed following a pragmatic approach for use by experiment design advocates in industry. The method is free of academic debates and requires companies to undergo a maturation process before any results are obtained.

Inspection and correction policies in setting economic product tolerance

Article Abstract:

Two inspection and control policies for determining economic product tolerance are analyzed. The first policy is created by a process and inspection facility while the second uses additional process only for correction. It is shown that both policies provide optimum product tolerance as well as reflect the balance between manufacturer expenses to improve product quality and customer losses.
