A vision of perfection

Article Abstract:

KeyTronic Corp, the largest computer keyboard manufacturer in the US, has developed and installed several machine vision systems in the company's Cheney, WA assembly plant to effectively perform final inspections of products. The machine vision sytems are capable of inspecting misloaded and defective keys, thereby allowing for process quality control. The systems, composed of cameras attached to robots, use software for analyzing images and compares these with programmed patterns saved in computer memory banks. If discrepancies are found, printouts are made to identify problem keys.

Machine vision for QC in paper recycling

Article Abstract:

Modern machine vision equipment provide higher levels of quality control in the production of recycled paper by accurately identifying and removing dirt and other unwanted foreign substances from recycled materials. Machine vision technology utilizes controlled calibration procedures and has the ability to detect and measure the sizes of dirt embedded on paper surfaces. The technology can accurately determine specific content of foreign material on paper, allowing for necessary adjustments to improve manufacturing process quality.

Process monitoring with vision

Article Abstract:

Machine vision, a flexible method of monitoring and controlling manufacturing processes, allows machine operators to determine when manufacturing steps get out of control, thereby reducing the amount of produced scrap material. The technology provides accurate measurement of process parameters, can identify flaws, and can assist in the manufacturing process. Machine vision systems, if allowed to monitor key dimensions, can control machinery to produce a zero-defect production process.
