A common sense approach to corrective action systems

Article Abstract:

Clearing Niagara, NY, a manufacturer of machine tools and related equipment for the metal-forming industry, has successfully implemented a corrective action system for dealing with nonconformance reports. Anyone detecting a nonconformance fills out a serially numbered corrective action report (CAR) that is sent to the quality assurance (QA) department. The QA department adds any required information to the CAR and sends it to the appropriate department for correction. This department must take remedial action and report it to the QA department, which notifies the CAR originator.
