Article Abstract:
Salaries in chemical engineering have been rising over the years, and an American Institute of Chemical Engineers survey showed that in 2007, the median salary is $103,730, 12.6% higer than from 2005. The results of the survey, which includes base salary trends from 1992 to 2007 and mean and median base salaries vis-a-vis variables such as years of work experience, industry, supervisory level and state, are discussed.

Engineers employed by chemical process industries usually rely on equipment-sizing and other related software to design simple plant equipment such as cooling towers and heat exchangers and valves. In complex projects such as those concerning front-end plant or fluid-flow system design, engineers turn to a more sophiticated software that fall under the the category of computational fluid dynamics.
