T&D training goes on the road

Article Abstract:

La Crosse, WI-based Dairyland Power Cooperative offers training to several co-ops and municipal utilities in its service territory via a switching training trailer. The trailer simulates a real distribution station and its training program fulfills OSHA standards.

Ugly 4.16-kV systems goes underground at 13.8 kV

Article Abstract:

Outdated overhead power lines are being replaced in Toronto, Ontario by an underground system. Distribution voltage was raised to provide for future growth. Space considerations and aesthetics are the driving forces for the change.

Beating equipment failure with prevention and replacement strategies

Electric utilities can deal with the replacement of aging transmission and distribution equipment (T&D) by implementing periodic inspection and maintenance and a planned program of replacing and upgrading T&D equipment.
