Tokyo, Japan-based Iwata Electric Co Ltd has introduced its new Tele-Alarm RF-14 theft prevention alarm system using a portable telephone system for motor vehicles in the Japanese market. The product employs a dual sensing mechanism comprising a radar sensor that detects the approach and intrusion of a person into a car via electromagnetic waves and an impact sensor that detects the vibration of the car. A controller activates the memory dial of the portable telephone and transmits an alarm message to telephones in offices or homes or to other portable telephones.

This move is in response to the growing use of digital recorders spurred by developments in information and multimedia services. Among the uses of these recorders are for storing programs from high-definition broadcast satellite services and downloading moving images from the Internet.

The converter comes in an LSI and software. The product can expand the number of quantization bits to 24 and increase the frequency band four-fold.
