Alcatel's ADSL license lets Toshiba build chip sets

Article Abstract:

Alcatel SA has licensed its asymmetrical digital subscriber line (ADSL) technology to Toshiba Corp which will use it to develop chip sets that allow transmission of high bandwidth services across conventional telephone lines. Toshiba will combine Alcatel's ADSL system, which includes discrete multiple-tone technology, to its asynchronous transfer mode switching, Ethernet and RISC technologies to develop the chip sets.
