Toshiba Video Products Japan has introduced the A-B100 VCR for broadcast satellite signals and the A-F1001 VCR which feature fivefold extended-play modes. Both have dedicated Just Track Width Head which features precise, narrow-gap heads. They offer picture-quality support features to adjust brightness and tint automatically to the videotape in use. Other features include large LCD, double navigation capabilities and a proprietary slanted front panel.

Sony Corp will release three models of its Hi-Fi VHS VCR line that will feature the company's Real by Speed technology. The devices, which include the SLV-R150, the SLV-R350 and the SLV-R550, will permit users to preset and record television programs without the need for external monitors or remote controllers. Sony's SLV-R series VCRs will also feature dials that will also allow the reservation and recording of television shows.

Toshiba Video Products Japan Company Ltd has released its Arena line of Hi-Fi VCRs that adopt the 19 micrometer power heads, a feature that ensures fine image quality even when recording in the triple-speed mode. The devices, which include the A-B10, the A-F10 and the A-J10, features big LCD screens that are equipped with backlight systems. Toshiba's Arena VCRs are also capable of cutting or skipping commercials automatically.
