"Whatever..." on boredom and the American college student

Article Abstract:

There is a malaise spreading among America's college and university students, which leaves students with little direction or lasting desire and restricts their capacity to conceive of a noble and rewarding life, it encourages their pursuit of artificial and extreme joys that somehow always yield to lassitude or disappointment. The satisfaction that politics supplies, being without confidence in ether god or reason and clinging to the enervating doctrine of progress, many of students are filled with the same uncertainties and self-doubts.

The liberal's understanding of freedom: A reconsideration

Article Abstract:

The reactions of both conservatives as well as liberals to the US President George W. Bush's second inaugural address, with its sweeping rhetoric about the spread of freedom abroad and at home are discussed. The universal health care, individual choice and costs are the three principles that the liberals should adopt in order to return to their mission of modernizing and promoting freedom.
