Turn back the clock on overseas fees

Article Abstract:

There is now an urgent need for the UK to re-examine fee structures for overseas students. If no action is taken, the UK will continue to lose African and South Asian students to the US and Australia, which have extensive aid-funded support schemes for foreign students. In this way, the UK's cultural and commercial links with African and South Asian countries are being weakened. The new Labour government should consider undertaking a special study into the needs of African, Caribbean and Pacific countries in terms of overseas study.
