Issues concerning efforts made by Austrian students to finish their degrees in time in order to avoid paying additional tuition fees are discussed. Particular attention is given to the introduction of fee paying system for students Austrian universities.

The policies and pledges of the UK's main political parties on higher education are discussed. The Labour government's aim to strengthen and expand universities and the alternative proposals of Conservatives and Liberal Democrats are examined.
