Susan Marshall was Simon Stone when she became bursar of Exeter College, Oxford, England, in 1988, but has had nothing but support since changing sex in 1993. She explains that the academic establishment judges people by their brains. Stephen Whittle, who was born a woman but has been living as a man for 20 years, reveals that he was hounded out of many jobs before becoming a law lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University. He has found that the only concern in academe is that people do their job properly. Nevertheless academic feminists disagree over whether it is possible to change sex.

Article Abstract:
United Kingdom house buyers tend not to have changed their attitudes as a result of changes in the housing market, according to a survey carried out in Bristol and Glasgow. The survey was carried out by Moira Munro, Heriot Watt University planning and housing professor. She has found that house buying is influenced by a range of factors rather than concern to make an investment. Buyers tended to borrow a bigger proportion of the price of the house in Glasgow, which had a more sluggish market than Bristol.
