Really revolting party outfits

Article Abstract:

Youth activism, in the 1990s, seemed to have moved away from being politically orientated as the marches against unemployment and in support of the miners, in the 1980s. Groups of activists, in the 1990s, are dispersed which often makes them difficult to study. Despite many of the groups having access to technology. The young activists are environmentally aware and object to anything which prevents them leading their own way of life. Their type of activism is known as the DiY culture. They are much more interested in taking action rather than demonstrating.

Article Abstract:

There is a protest movement in the UK which is disenchanted with parliamentary politics, and has been called New Protest. Key issues include animal rights and protection of the environment against road building schemes. Alliances have been set up between different social groups, and clashes have occurred with the police and private-sector guards. This protest movement is a cultural phenomenon and involves a new usage of language and public art.

The author believes that Anti-Americanism is an important topic to study and includes it in his American Studies classes. The class studies the influence of Americanization on the United Kingdom and the backlash it creates.
