Parallel lines on the poetic

Article Abstract:

Interactive Television (ITV) is likely to be more widely used in the future by most of the US but in the rural states of Vermont and Maine it is used a great deal already. There are 4,000 students in ME and 3,500 in VT who take ITV courses, the former state with a large portion of its population living on isolated islands and the latter with mountains and weather making travel difficult. Jules Older runs such a course in writing and, although both she and many of the students were apprehensive about whether such a subject could be taught in this way, results have been good.

The poetic passions between the sheets: poetry anthologies are hotbeds of controversy, exciting rows over who's in and who's out

Article Abstract:

It is common for poetry anthologies to attract controversy, especially if they seek to bring together very different poetics. There is a need for an improved understanding of the links between social and literary history if anthologies are to truly reflect the wide range of British and Irish poetry since the beginning of the 20th century.
