Students need to be taught how to be successful in their first interviews following qualification as teachers. Having good communication skills and looking presentable are very important. They need to speak clearly and the use of easy exercises prior to the interview will help to relax the jaw and tongue. Take time answering questions. The interviewee must look at the interviewing panel during the interview perhaps focusing on anyone who looks dissatisfied. Vacate the room quickly giving the panel a smile and thanking them will help leave a positive impression.

The use of case studies in teaching enables students to work as a team and develop a better understanding of issues while also being a useful assessment tool. The teacher should guide the class discussion and encourage constructive dialogue. The chosen case studies should be of interest to the student while also being relevant to the study topic. All students should become involved in the situation of the case study, with smaller groups of students often most appropriate.
