Article Abstract:
Commonwealth of Nations vice chancellors have debated environmental issues at their conference in Swansea in August 1993, though there was disagreement on various issues, including the definition of the term 'environmentally responsible'. Some delegates argued that the issue was outside the brief of universities, with, for example a lack of student demand for courses on environmental issues. Others stressed the importance of remedying neglect of the issue, and the need for a common policy among Commonwealth universities.
