Article Abstract:
The Arts and Humanities Research Board has been set up in the United Kingdom and replaces the Humanities Research Board (HRB) which operated under the British Academy. The new board has more funds and brings together the humanities and performing and creative arts. The HRB had 2.5 million pounds sterling annually to fund advanced research, while the new board has 8.2 million pounds sterling for 1998 and 15.9 million pounds for 1999, in additions to funds for art galleries and museums.
