In the light of the publication of his book "Disidencia y Subversion: La Lucha del Regimen Franquista por su Supervivencia, 1960-1975" (Dissidence and Subversion: The Franco Regime's Struggle for Survival 1960-1975), Pere Ysas, an expert on the Franco dictatorship in Spain who is based at the Universitat Autonome de Barcelona, analyses the impact that dissident movements in Spain had on the dictatorship and its institutions. Ysas provides a more complicated view of the period than is usually put forward by historians in Spain.

An analysis and personal account of the summer courses run by universities across the UK. It is noted that while for students there are a number of reasons for attending summer classes, for the academics - and some of the students - summer school is a chance to catch up on their drinking.

An associate lecturer with the Open University relates his experiences teaching summer school classes. He contends that the standard of people attending summer schools has got better over time and that they offer a unique experience for those that attend them.
