Article Abstract:
The publication of the successful sequencing of the human chromosome C22 has led to scientists on the project receiving letters from families who are hopeful the findings will increase their chances of genetic testing. The work has been carried out by scientists working on the Human Genome Project, which is supported by the Wellcome Trust. The team are planning to work on the chromosomes X, 1, 6, and 20 in the future. Some 2% of the C22 has yet to be discovered. It is hoped the work, which is free on the Internet, will be used to find drugs for diseases, such as hypertension.

Article Abstract:
The first collection of correspondence written by playwright Samuel Beckett is due to be published after being edited by former University College Dublin professor of Irish literature and drama, Maurice Harmon. Theatre director Alan Schneider stored the hand-written correspondence between Beckett and himself, including letters where Beckett complains of the invasion of his privacy by critics. Most of the 500 letters focus on Beckett's requirements for staging and producing his plays, although some also provide an insight into Beckett's character.
