Toward a macroeconomics of the medium run

Article Abstract:

There is a need for more work on models of general equilibrium in macroeconomics. There has been a rise in interest in growth theory which has eased off, leaving models available for use. There is still a need for further work in some areas such as open economy growth models. Relationships between wages and prices, inflation and unemployment also need to be reassessed. Phenonmena that deserve attention include different unemployment trends in Europe in the two decades to 2000, and Japanese stagnation of the 1990s.

Minority groups in the economics profession

Article Abstract:

The number of minority economists in the US remains very small. It seems that minority individuals are more likely to leave economics before becoming a professional academic economist than nonminorities.
