Issues related to compensation schemes are examined. Continuous schemes, which relate pay continuously to output or input may be more efficient than discrete schemes, rewarding only a minimum standard.

There are reasons for doubting a relationship between incentives and risks, and plausible influences could lead to a positive relationship, rather than the traditional negative trade-off.
