The hiring function reconsidered: on closing the circle

Article Abstract:

The matching of job searchers with vacant jobs was examined. The study involved those that are employed, unemployed or not in the labor force. It was shown that previous studies that ignored both unemployed and employed job seekers generated biased estimates of the coefficients of interest. Results based on Australian data estimates reveal that the disaggregate worker flows and their interdependence are key features on the labor market.
