Strategic planning for Canon; the crisis and the new vision

Article Abstract:

Corporate planning has long been used by Canon Corp. Quality strategies, which have been the basis of the company's excellent performance, have been formulated from this corporate planning process. Intensive planning involving in-house development and resource structure strengthening, is associated with the introduction of every new product. Computer simulation is used to model future results of their long-range strategy and medium-range plans as it also integrates other sub-systems of the total corporate plan.

Article Abstract:

Micro-strategy is the term used to denote the trade-offs and aggregate decisions involved in the creation of value for the customer. This involves the streamlining of the product creation, order handling and service assurance expectations of a customer. The application of this micro-strategy by successful companies emphasize the necessity of creating a product that meets the unique and evolving needs of a consumer without incurring prohibitive costs in order to outperform competitors.
