Short-period macroeconomic aspects of foreign aid

Article Abstract:

Study results suggest that, in order to improve domestic output and employment, foreign aid increases need to be combined with suitable, expansionary, domestic demand policies. 'Too much' foreign aid, by depressing an economy's demand level below its potential supply capacity, can have a negative impact on aggregate domestic demand. Even in cases of positive influence, the use of aid to stimulate demand can be wasteful.

Effective demand and the terms of trade in a dual economy: a Kaldorian perspective

Article Abstract:

The dual economy effective demand and its effect on the generation of agricultural surplus and the purchasing power of industrial goods is analyzed. The predictions about sectoral growth rates, as well as the effect of trade movements on long-term industrial growth are discussed.
