Self-selection and wages during volatile transition

Article Abstract:

The effects of Bulgaria's financial crisis during mid-1990s and the the reforms that followed it on employment selection are evaluated. It was found that after the structural reforms, workers who were highly productive chose self-employment, however, high skill and return did not develip in the private sector. The effectiveness of structural reforms is analyzed further.

Labor supply in urban China

Article Abstract:

The gross wage effects of labor supply responses of urban Chinese workers indicate relatively low uncompensated labor supply elasticities. The labor supply responses depend on the responsibilities within the families.
