Rhone-Poulenc Canada will build six other playgrounds in Canada in 1999 and 2000. The firm was encouraged by the success of its public relations program initiated by Ontario-based ad firm Elliot Communications Inc. The program consisted of building playgrounds in six different communities in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta, Canada. With the program, Rhone-Poulenc was able to boost its image to communities and promote its agrichemical products better and effectively.

A branding war has ensued in Canada's seed industry as companies strive to differentiate themselves from competitors in light of a proliferation of number of seed varieties. Among those that have implented a successful branding strategy are Pioneer Hi-Bred, Nortis and AgrEvo. These companies are using a broad approach to gain brand recognition and loyalty, including the use of the Internet and retailers to clearly disseminate information about their brands.

Delta and Pine Land Co ( D and PL) of Scott, MS, has completed a major expansion in its existing storage facility in Aiken, TX. The company, which spent $3.75 million for the development, points to the changes in the cotton industry for encouraging the expansion. D and PL, which expects to operate the additional space by harvest 2000, will initially use the new warehouse space to store 'fuzzy' seeds from contracted gins.
