The Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) remained at a level 149.7 through Dec 1994 without seasonal adjustment, unchanged from Nov. This represents an increase of 2.7% for the previous 12 months. The CPI for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI-W) rose 0.2% for Dec, after seasonal adjustment. The smallest 12-month gains were for apparel and upkeep, which fell 1.6%, and entertainment, which increased 2.3%. The largest increases over 12 months were in the categories of medical care, up 4.9%, and transportation, up 3.8%.

Both consumer price indexes (CPIs) rose 2.9% in Apr 1996. The CPI for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) rose to 156.3 without seasonal adjustment, a rise of 2.9% for the last 12 months. The CPI for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI-W) rose to 153.6 without seasonal adjustment, a rise of 2.9% for the last 12 months. Smallest 12 month gains were in apparel and upkeep for both CPIs, .1% in the CPI-U and .4% in the CPI-W. Largest 12 month gains were in energy in both CPIs, 5.9% in the CPI-U and 6.3% in the CPI-W.

The Mar 1995 Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) increased 2.9% over Mar 1994 to 151.4, a .3% increase over Feb 1995. The Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI-W) was 3% higher than March 1994 while gaining .3% over Feb 1995, attaining 148.7. The greatest 12-month gains were in medical care at 4.8 in the CPI-U and transportation at 5.4 in the CPI-W. The lowest 12-month gains were in apparel and upkeep for both indexes at -1.2 for CPI-U and -1.1 for CPI-W.
